Proofs FAQ

Here you'll find a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) about proofs. Click on a question below to jump to the answer on this page. For other FAQ's by category, see our Help & FAQ's page.

Q: What is a proof?

A: A proof is basically a preview of exactly how your document or job will look when we have completed it. We provide proofs in either digital format as PDF files that we email to you or hard copy proofs.

Q: What is a hard copy proof?

A: A hard copy is a printed, "real" proof, usually (but not always) printed onto the type of paper we will be using for your final job. We provide hard copies when it is critical for you to preview a certain type of paper, you need color matching, or we need you to check the quality of the printing.

We are also happy to provide hard copy proofs if you do not have email access or just prefer to see a printed proof instead of a digital proof.

Q: Why do I need to see/approve a proof?

A: Primarily because we want you to be happy with your completed job! When viewing a proof, it is important for you to check the overall design (if our graphic designers have custom created it for you), spellings of names, correct addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and the correct colors.

For all custom graphic design work, we require that you view and approve a proof. We want you to be completely satisfied with your experience, from design inception through to the final printed product!

Q: What if I find a mistake after I have approved a proof?

A: Please contact us as soon as possible! Since we promise quick turn-around times (usually 24 hours), we often will begin printing your product as soon as the proof is approved.

Please check your proof very carefully before approving it and releasing it to be printed. Check especially for correct spelling (including names, addresses, and locations), correct phone numbers, and correct email addresses. Also check that the sizing and colors are as you wish them to appear in the final product.
