Printing FAQ

Here you'll find a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) about printing. Click on a question below to jump to the answer on this page. For other FAQ's by category, see our Help & FAQ's page.

Q: What type of printers do you use?

A: We use digital copiers/printers. This means that all of our machines are capable of copying from an original, or having a digital file sent to them from our computers. Digital printing allows us to achieve much higher printing quality than a plain, old-fashioned copier.

We mainly have two types of digital copiers/printers: Océ 3165 black and white printers and Canon 3200 Color imageRunners. The Océ machines offer high-capacity, fast printing for pure black and white (or grayscale) documents, while the Canon machines are used mostly for color printing.

We also have HP DesignJet inkjet printers for large format and high fidelity photo printing.

Like the quality of our printers so much that you wish you had one at your office, small business, or home? Now you can! We are offering copiers/digital printers for lease! Use the same printing equipment that we use in our Factory. Visit our Copier Sales & Service page for more information.

Q: How long will it take to print my job?

A: In most cases, just 24 hours! We offer the following guarantees:

quote endquote

100,000 black and white copies in 24 HOURS or it's FREE!*

*Our 24-hour/100,000 black and white copies guarantee applies to black and white copies/digital prints on 8.5" x 11" 20# white paper. Digital files must be print-ready. Guarantee does not include post-production binding.

25,000 color copies in 24 HOURS or it's FREE!*

*Our 24-hour/25,000 color copies guarantee applies to color copies/digital prints on 20# white paper. Digital files must be print-ready. Guarantee does not include post-production binding.

Please take note of the guidelines for these guarantees.

Many other jobs we can also complete within 24 hours, especially if you are submitting a hard copy for a basic copying job, or have a print-ready digital file. Even jobs for laminating, postcards, business cards, and more...our standard turn-around time is 24 hours!

Jobs we usually can NOT complete within 24 hours are those that require our graphic designers to create a file from scratch for you or to set up a digital file that is not print-ready. For these types of jobs, we generally require that you view and approve a proof before we print the job. The time it takes for us to get approval on the proof adds 1-2 business days to the turn-around time.

Coil binding also may require more than 24 hours, depending on the size of the job.

Q: How can you offer a 24-hour guarantee?

A: We have over 40 Océ black and white machines, each capable of producing 62 prints per minute. This means we have the ability to print up to 2,480 black and white copies per MINUTE and 148,800 prints within just 1 HOUR!

We also have 30 Canon 3200 color machines, each able to produce 32 prints per minute. So our total color copier capacity is 960 prints per minute, and 57,600 color copies within 1 HOUR!

Therefore, our 24 hour prints guarantees are actually quite conservative! Have an extraordinarily large job, needing copies into the MILLIONS? See our High Volume Copies page for information on what we can do for you.

Q: Does it cost more to print my job with more than one color?

A: No! Since we print using digital printers/copiers, it does not take any more time, effort, or supplies on our part to print something in four or more colors versus using just a single color. To us, color is color, and it doesn't cost more to add multiple colors to your project.

Printers who charge by the color are offset printers. They use inks to produce each color on your project. It is easier and faster for them to set up the machine to print with just one color, versus two or more. Thus, they charge less for one-color printing versus two or more color printing.

Q: What is full-bleed printing?

A: A full-bleed design is printed so that the edges of the design run off the page (color/images extend to the edge). In order for the design to not have any white edge when we trim the piece, full-bleed designs require that the design is printed to extend at least 1/8" beyond the piece's finished size. Full bleed designs usually cost just slightly more, but the effect is well worth it.

Please note that some projects will need to printed on a larger paper size in order to accommodate a full-bleed design. For example, if you need an 8½" x 11" finished size with a full-bleed design, we will have to print onto 11" x 14" paper. If your finished size is not critical, we can still print on 8½" x 11" paper, then trim to about 8" x 10½".

Please see our Full-Bleed page for more information.

Q: What is your most economical printing option?

A: Our best-priced copies/prints are our standard black and white or color copies/prints on 20# white paper. Black and white copies/prints on 20# white paper are just 4¢ every day! Our color copies/prints on 20# white paper are only 20¢ every day!

Our 20# white paper is our standard copy paper, good for most everyday projects.

Q: Why are your copy prices so much less than I find elsewhere?

A: We base our business on a different model than you'll find at the "big box" copy/print centers. We mainly use recycled equipment. See our About Us page for more information about our unique approach!
